Vet Visit - Make sure your fur-baby's vaccines are up to date and your pet is micro-chipped for easy ID in the event they stray from their new environment.
Good Pet Carrier - Make sure your pet carrier is appropriately sized for your pet and that they have been acclimated to it prior to traveling.
Toys and Comforts - Put their favorite blanket or your t-shirt in the pet carrier so they can smell your scent even if you're not nearby. Also, include a favorite toy. This helps signal that all is well.
Light Foods Prior To Travel - Helps keep nausea to a minimum when riding or flying.
Light Sedation for the Trip - Talk with your vet about whether gentle sedation is appropriate for your pet. If they are traveling in strange cargo areas, this can help keep them calm for the ride.
